These photographs were made in a ghost town not too far from where I
live. The buildings are more than a century old, and were abandoned at
least fifty years ago. But within these decaying places, the ethereal
light felt like a living presence. Photographing indoors for the first time,
I became entranced by the reciprocal and ever-changing way in which the
buildings shaped the light, and the light in turn defined and occupied
the interior space. Around each corner, within each room, there seemed to
lie a story, a secret, the thread of a memory. |
