These photographs were taken within a small area about a mile long and one hundred yards wide, straddling Sourdough Creek in Bozeman, Montana. Over the course of the seasons, I often walked along (and off) the trail there, seeing the place in a new way. Rather than classic views, I was interested in more fleeting glimpses that had a Zen-like feel to them, though visually they were anything but simple. Partly to explain them to myself, I began writing haiku to go with each image. I use them as titles to convey a more rounded sense of what the moments meant to me.

After about a year's hiatus, I'm returning to Sourdough Trail and blogging about it on Along Sourdough Trail.
